OUR SPRING 40-HOUR TRAINING WAS A GREAT SUCCESS

Twice yearly Haven House hosts a 40-hour victim advocate training.  Attendees include new staff members, those interested in volunteering with us and staff from other agencies.  The training is always well received because of our ongoing effort to provide the most relevant and current information available.  We wish to extend appreciation to our team of presenters which include Haven House staff along with the following very excellent outside presenters:

Yoko Mansfield:  “Asian culture and Its Impact on Domestic Violence”
Diane Franklin (West Covina P.D):  “Counseling Skills”
Darin Hirasuna (Grandview Foundation):  “Addiction and the Family”
Heather Poole, Esq:  “Legal Issues Facing Victims of Domestic Violence”
Kendall Evans (Open Paths and Another Way):  “Batterers Treatment”

During our most recent training, we were proud to include three new speakers:  Leslie Sigala (Peace Over Violence) focused on sexual assault and rape.
Dr. Regina McClure (The Center for Aging Resources) presented an excellent training on elder abuse, and Detective Marko Tudich (Pasadena P.D.) spoke about the role of law enforcement.

Those wishing to participate in our next training, please contact Lynda Campbell (626) 564-8880.  “Help us sow the seeds for a future without domestic violence.”
